Why do you need my BVN?
Note: If you do not verify your BVN, you will not be able to carry out transactions on your account. OTP code sent for BVN verification is sent to the phone number linked to your BVN on your bank account.
The Bank Verification Number (BVN) was introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as a way to protect customers from identity theft, banking fraud and protect the integrity of the banking system. Thus, each account holder has a BVN linked to their identity.
How do you use my BVN?
Your BVN is required from our Nigerian customers to verify their identity. This is legally required as part of the Know Your Customer (KYC) process. We require this number from our customers as a means of verifying their identity.
Please note that your BVN does NOT give us access to your bank details. It is only used for verification which makes it easy for you to deposit and withdraw your funds as well as keep our platform safe from scammers.
What happens after I share my BVN?
When you share your BVN during identity verification on Yellow Card, your trading limit is upgraded to Tier 2. This means your daily trading limit will be upgraded from NGN 20,000 to NGN 2,000,000 and your monthly limit is also upgraded to NGN 10,000,000.
Who has access to my BVN?
Your BVN is only used for identity verification on our platform; we do not share it with any third party nor does it grant us access to your banking details.
