I sent cryptocurrency to the wrong address, how do I get it back?

We understand that it is possible to send cryptocurrency to a wrong address due to human error or oversight. However, cryptocurrency sent to a wrong address is usually irreversible by design of the blockchain network.

We, therefore, advise that you doublecheck the address you're sending cryptocurrency to before confirming the transaction.

Here are a few ways to ensure you don't make a mistake when sending cryptocurrency:

Crosscheck recipient's blockchain address

While you're less likely to make a mistake if you copy the address as opposed to typing it out, you should still ensure that the copied address is correct.

Confirm email address or phone number

If you're sending cryptocurrency using the email address or phone number option, ensure that the displayed name matches the name of the recipient before confirming the send.

To ensure you don't send cryptocurrency to a phone number or email address that isn't registered on Yellow Card, you will not be able to confirm the transfer.

    Note: You can send cryptocurrency to only other Yellow Card users if using the phone number or email address options.
